Project Description

The following intersections along Bank Street are proposed to be modified to support the development of new subdivisions in the Leitrim community:

  • Findlay Creek Drive/ Street No. 1
  • Findlay Creek Centre / Shuttleworth Drive
  • Blais Road / Miikana Road
  • Dun Skipper Drive

Scope of Work

The Scope of work includes:

  1. Findlay Creek Drive / Street No. 1
  • Addition of the east leg to the existing signalized intersection at Bank Street / Findlay Creek Drive.
  • Widening of Bank Street on the east side to accommodate a new southbound left-turn lane at the intersection
  • 2.0m wide paved shoulder on the east side.
  • Modifications to the traffic signals at the intersection
  • New concrete sidewalks on the east side of the intersection and small areas of sidewalk reinstatement on the west side of the intersection to accommodate traffic signal poles and TWSIs.
  1. Findlay Creek Centre / Shuttleworth Drive
  • Addition of the east leg to the existing signalized intersection at Bank Street / Findlay Creek Centre.
  • Widening of Bank Street on the east side to accommodate a new southbound left-turn lane at the intersection
  • 2.0m wide paved shoulder on the east side.
  • Modifications to the traffic signals at the intersection
  • New concrete sidewalks on the east side of the intersection and small areas of sidewalk reinstatement on west side of the intersection to accommodate traffic signal poles and TWSIs.
  1. Blais Road / Miikana Road
  • Widening of Bank Street on both sides to accommodate left-turn lanes in both directions and a southbound right-turn lane at the intersection
  • 2.0m wide paved shoulder on the east and west sides
  • Widening of Blais Road for a short section to accommodate a westbound left-turn lane
  • New traffic signals at the intersection
  • New concrete sidewalks and cycle tracks at the intersection in a “Protected Intersection” configuration.
  1. Blais Road / Dun Skipper Drive
  • Connection of Dun Skipper Drive to Bank Street, forming a “T” intersection.
  • Widening of Bank Street on both sides to accommodate a northbound left-turn lane and a southbound right-turn lane at the intersection
  • 2.0m wide paved shoulder on the east and west sides
  • New traffic signals at the intersection
  • New concrete sidewalks and cycle tracks at the intersection in a “Protected Intersection” configuration.
  1. Upgrading street lighting within the project limits, with most of the poles to be located on the east side of Bank Street.
  2. Reshaping of the east ditch with new culverts at intersections, driveways and other necessary locations.

In addition to the above, the relocation and/or adjustment of existing Bell and Rogers plant along the east side of Bank Street between Findlay Creek Drive and Blais Road will be required to accommodate the proposed works. Discussions with Bell and Rogers are ongoing.
